Moon Features – Reiner Gamma

Moon Features – Reiner Gamma

Data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter was used to create this visualization of Reiner Gamma – a lunar swirl. Scientists have used data from LRO and other lunar missions to develop the most accepted theory of swirl formation, that magnetic fields at swirls standoff and direct the solar wind to form the swirl patterns. This video was narrated by LRO Deputy Project Scientist Noah Petro.
