RAMSÉS

This colossal statue of Ramesses II stands in the Museum’s Egyptian Sculpture Gallery. It was made around 1200 BC and weighs an astonishing 7.25 tons! Ramesses the Great, as he is also known, was pharaoh for 67 years and lived to be around 90. This iconic statue once stood at the mortuary temple of the king, the Ramesseum, and the sculptor has angled the eyes down so that the face relates to viewers from ground level. http://ow.ly/BIJh308Qkp8
