Kids – and adults – love book series. For parents with avid young readers, keeping up with the demand for quality literature poses a happy but sometimes challenging predicament. That’s why this year our recommended gift list focuses on trilogies and series – old and new - that we believe will appeal to children of all ages. Just follow the links for details. Fans of JRR Tolkien will maintain that the magic and depth of his fantasy world are unrepeatable. This is probably true, but he has many imitators. In this issue, Harley Sims reflects on Poland's answer to Tolkien, Andrzej Sapkowski. His grim tales about a moribund and persecuted caste of monsterslayers have become a hit as novels and a blockbuster as a video game. It's a fascinating article.
